My name is Bruno Kümmel. I was born in Brasília, Brazil, where I completed my studies in Computer Science. After I graduated from college back in 2005, I had the opportunity to join the Brazilian Federal Police as a police officer. I intended to work there as an officer until a new opportunity to become a computer forensics specialist showed up.
In 2009, after waiting for 4 years for that computer forensics specialist position, I got out of the Federal Police and joined the Brazilian Intelligence Agency as an Intelligence officer.
I worked for the intelligence service for 10 years, in different sectors with different assignments. In 2016, I decided that I wanted to return to work with technology, so I went back to University to get my Master's Degree in Machine Learning. I was then invited by the director of the Center for Research and Development on Communication Security of the Intelligence Service to help develop a new sector related to Big Data that was being created there.
Since the sector was at its early stage, I had the opportunity to work in different areas in the process of building the sector. I worked as a sysadmin, installing and configuring the machines; Backend developer, programming the API that would collect data from open sources and send it to the front-end dashboards, and as a Data analyst writing reports from the collected data.
At the end of 2019, my wife was transferred to Windhoek, Namibia. Since my job did not have a remote working position available at the time, I took a long-term leave of absence and came to Africa, where I spent three months as a volunteer math teacher for children in need in a township nearby Windhoek.
I am passionate about programming and I always try to keep myself updated through courses, online conferences, and other materials. I am currently looking for an entry-level position where I can be part of a team, learn while helping to develop real world solutions and get to meet people from different places with different experiences.
